My career has been predominantly in music from the 1970’s to date. I used to perform my own songs throughout Europe and the UK but these days I live in Manchester and concentrate on songwriting and pitching my songs with other artists. I have always loved writing and composing and my songs are very lyrical. The highlight of my long and varied musical career was being the support act for Eric Clapton throughout his Scandinavian tours in the 1980’s. I was based in Denmark at the time.
I have always loved writing, even as a child. Writing is more than a creative pursuit. I literally go into another zone and the benefits are amazing. I’ve written short stories, poems, prose, comedy scripts and musicals. I’ve also painted portraits.
I am passionate about my current series of books. It all began in 1996 when I thought I’d write a short story about a little boy with supernatural powers. I decided to make him an anti-hero with a stunning telepathic gift but he would have a powerful dark side. It ended up as a huge manuscript and I came very close to being published but there were snags. So, I put it all to one side.
In 2018 I rediscovered the discarded manuscript. To cut a long story short, The Book Guild published the first book in the series, namely Poetic Justice: The Dawning that same year (and every book since then) so I’ve never looked back. The protagonist, Randal Forbes, is a complex creation of my vivid imagination. He is dynamic, demonic and decadent and the series follows his life from a baby to date. I truly don’t know how I created him!
My family and friends have always encouraged my gift. I lost my beloved husband, Robert, just before the second lockdown. We were married for forty-nine years and he was the love of my life. I adored him. The grief is overwhelming but he was always behind my career one hundred percent. I dedicated the fourth book Poetic Justice: The Inheritance in his memory because I know he would want me to carry on with my work. I feel his presence every day.
The most important thing for an author is interaction with their readers. I look forward to that connection and all their comments. I take everything on board from complimentary reviews to constructive criticism. So, bring it on!
